Vijayawada: Social activist P Srimannarayana and Paturi Tata Babu, land owner of Mandadam village in Amaravati capital region alleged that the officials of Capital Region Development Authority (CRDA) violated rules in acquiring lands.

Social activist P Srimannarayana alleges that the officials are threatening farmers who refused to give their lands that they would acquire them through land acquisition

Speaking to mediapersons here on Saturday, they alleged that the officials were illegally grabbing lands of farmers even after the latter refused to give them to the government for capital construction under the land pooling scheme.

They also said that the government was threatening people that they would acquire land through land acquisition enactment. Besides, the officials of CRDA were harassing farmers who did not give their lands for capital construction.

P Tata Babu who is a land owner and native of Mandadam said that his six acres of land was encroached by CRDA without any consent. He said that already road works were launched through his land. Moreover, the CRDA officials have entered clandestinely into an agreement with some impersonators under land pooling scheme for collecting the land originally owned by him, he alleged.

Later, the officials wanted to start the road works, he said and added that the illegal practices were exposed at various forums and letters were also written to the President of India. The police booked cases against some impersonators after his warning of stern action against the illegal practices, Tata Babu said. "CRDA was acting like a rowdy,” he bemoaned.
