Tirupati: The annual Brahmotsavams in Sri Kodandarama Swamy temple in Tirupati took off to a ceremonious start with Dhwajarohanam on Friday.

The event started in the auspicious Mesha Lagnam between 8:30a.m and 9a.m when the flag of Garuda was hoisted on the Dwajasthambam (temple pillar) marking the commencement of Navahnika Brahmotsavams, amidst religious fervour.

On the occasion, TTD EO Anil Kumar Singhal has said to media persons that elaborate arrangements of security and other works were made for the grand festival.

About Rs.38 lakhs worth renovation works were carried out by the engineering wing in the 16th Century temple to cope with increase of devotees. Every day, there will be vahana sevas between 8a.m and 10a.m again between 8p.m and 10p.m during Brahmotsavams. The important days of the fete include

Garuda Seva on March 20, Hanumantha Vahanam on March 21, Rathotsavam on March 23 and Chakrasnanam on March 24 with which the annual festival concludes, he added.

CV & SO A Ravikrishna, Dy EO Jhansi, Superintendent Munikrishna Reddy, Temple Inspector Sesha Reddy and other staff and devotees in large numbers participated in the event.
