1,02,726 cr infrastructure works completed: Narayana
Municipal administration minister P Narayana said that the infrastructure works are being done including Amaravati capital construction and housing scheme with a budget of Rs 1,02,726 crore.

Participating in the debate on “Infrastructure and Development in Urban Areas” in the Assembly on Wednesday, Narayana said in total works worth Rs 4,172 crore have been completed and tenders were called for works worth Rs 6,420 crore. The construction works of Rs 51,706 crore were under various stages of progress, he said.
Stating that the tender process would be completed for Vijayawada and Visakhapatnam Metro Rail projects in next five months, Narayana added the projects would be taken up with the private partnership following the suggestion from the Centre.
He said 9-lakh people applied for houses under the housing scheme of government of which 6 lakh houses were approved for the construction. The government would also acquire lands for construction of housing scheme at various towns.
Stating that the Anna canteens would be opened across the state in June, he said already canteens have been opened in Amaravati and Nandyala. MLA Bonda Umamaheswara Rao requested the government to prevent contamination of drinking water by replacing old pipelines.
