Participating in the question hour in the Assembly on Tuesday, the MLA has  said that though the government constructed Pushkaraghats spending crores of rupees, they are getting damaged due to lack of proper maintenance.

Amaravati: Pedakurapadu MLA Kommalapati Sridhar expressed concern over the negligence in the maintenance of Pushkaraghats in Amaravati. Participating in the question hour in the Assembly on Tuesday, the MLA has said that though the government constructed Pushkaraghats spending crores of rupees, they are getting damaged due to lack of proper maintenance.

Moreover, the ghats have turned as hubs for anti-social aliments and the whole ambiance creates inconvenience to the tourists. Lakhs of pilgrims and tourists visit Amaravati from various places across the State, he said and requested the government to maintain ghats properly and provide suitable environment.

Answering to the issue, Minister for Irrigation Devineni Umamaheswara Rao said that the responsibility of maintenance of ghats was fixed with the local panchayats and municipal corporations.

However, the government would take necessary precautions by conducting meeting with the respective departments. Setting up industries in Krishna district: Similarly, Jaggayyapet MLA Sriram Rajagopal asked the government to set up pharma industries at Jayanti village in the limits of his constituency as part of government assurance. The government acquired 308 acres in the village to set up industries. But the industries have not yet come in the land.

Minister N Amaranatha Reddy replied that some of the local people had approached courts challenging the establishment of industries raising apprehensions over pollution. Now the government is taking steps to solve the issue by suggesting changes in the designs to make industries free from pollution.
