SCS Demand: Opposition parties block highways in AP
Vehicular traffic on the National Highways in Andhra Pradesh came to a standstill for several hours as the all opposition parties under the aegis of Andhra JAC blocked the roads in a bid to intensify the stir for Special Category Status on Thursdday.
Vijayawada: Vehicular traffic on the National Highways in Andhra Pradesh came to a standstill for several hours as the all opposition parties under the aegis of Andhra JAC blocked the roads in a bid to intensify the stir for Special Category Status on Thursdday.
The YSRCP led by YS Jagan Mohan Reddy also extended its support to the road blockade. All the Opposition parties blocked all national highways passing through Andhra Pradesh from 10 am to 2 pm across the State. Though the TDP not part of the protests at several places, it extended its moral support. The protesters blocked Vijayawada and Kolkata highway in the morning and traffic came to a standstill for several hours.
The bandh elicited a good response and there was also no incidents of violence. The police arrested the protesting leaders at several places when they were trying to stop traffic. On the other hand, the TDP held a statewide protest in the support of party MPs' agitation in the Parliament.
