Guntur: Joint teams of police and transport department booked cases against those who were driving the vehicles without helmets in Guntur district. They booked 145 cases and collected a penalty of Rs 87,000 for driving two-wheelers without helmet.

They booked 63 cases in Guntur city, 20 cases in Tenali, 10 cases in Chilakaluripet, 11 cases in Mangalagiri town, 10 cases in Pidiguralla, nine cases in Narasaraopet and 12 cases in Bapatla town.

Deputy Transport Commissioner GC Rajaratnam urged the two-wheeler riders to wear helmet and drive the vehicles and added that helmetless driving was leading to accidental deaths.
