At that time, 100 MBBS seats were allotted for each RIMS across the state. First year course was started in Srikakulam in district headquarters hospital buildings.As per the Medical Council of India (MCI) norms, 13 integrated buildings are required to run MBBS course with 100 seats at RIMS.

But even after 10 after its inception, the course was being run in seven buildings only out of 13 buildings. One building is ready for use recently, but it needs to be inaugurated, another two buildings would be completed in two months and remaining two buildings required some more months for completion.

“We will hand over all the buildings soon to RIMS”, AP Medical Services Infrastructure Development Corporation (APMSIDC) executive engineer Kolluru Rambabu told The Hans India.For each medical faculty- casualty, inpatient, surgical and medical wards- are required separately, in addition to it lecture hall, operation theatre, library, laboratory and hostels necessary separately for both men and women.

For the proposed additional 50 seats in MBBS course, all additional facilities are required as per MCI norms and these conditions must be fulfilled to get permission for enhanced seats. For this purpose, the state government has allocated Rs 60 crore funds, but works not yet started.
