Nellore: Kaligiri Police held a person who collected money from the heads of Mandal Parishads and also their relatives across the state by assuring outsourcing posts in the AP Transco. The accused is identified as V Umamaheswar Rao.

Kaligiri Circle Inspector KSrinivasa Rao said here on Saturday that Umamaheswar Rao from Madhura Nagar in Visakhapatnam had lost his parents in his childhood and has been working in small shops for livelihood. “He collected the details of MPPs in the state and contacted them asking them to deposit Rs.510 for each person to get an outsourcing post in AP Transco department. He introduced himself as an employee of the Transco,’’ said the Circle Inspector. The accused also opened a new bank account in Visakhapatnam city for deposits, he added.

Circle Inspector informed that around 150 MPPs have deposited cash in his bank account for outsourcing posts. Umamaheswar Rao contacted Duttalur, Marripadu and Kaligiri MPPs in the district asking them to deposit money into his account for the posts. Nine members of the relatives of MPPs have deposited cash in the account of the accused.

The CI said that the politicos enquired about the accused in Nellore Transco and then lodged a complaint atKaligiri Police Station against Umamaheswara Rao. ‘We had launched investigation and finally held the accused in Visakhapatnam.
