Kurnool: Intensifying their agitation after Naidu’s Dharma Porata Deeksha, the TDP MPs, MLAs, MLCs and party activists organised cycle rallies across the district on Saturday. A cycle rally led by Kurnool Urban Development Authority (KUDA) Chairman Somi Shetty Venkateshwarulu organised from Osmania College to TDP office.

Tourism Minister Bhuma Akhila Priya organised the rally at Allagadda, Bhuma Bhramananda Reddy at Nandyal and Jaya Nageshwara Reddy at Yemmiganoor demanding Special Category Status (SCS) to Andhra Pradesh. Addressing the gathering, Somi Shetty said Modi government betrayed the state people in according SCs to AP. He said the aim of organising cycle yatra is to let the people know about the injustice being done by the Central government and to explain the benefits of SCS.

He alleged Modi was misleading people of the country with his pet projects, Make in India, Skill India, Start-up India and Digital India. But none of the projects taken any shape or proved beneficial to the people, he added. The development in the country has come to standstill since the BJP government voted to power, he said and added common man was facing many problems after implementation of demonetisation. “People are observing the real face of Modi and will teach a befitting lesson to him in the ensuing elections,” he said.

During the entire stretch of rally, the party leaders and activists raised slogans of SCS and promises made to Andhra Pradesh. They also said the agitations will continue till the Central government does justice to AP. Stating that 11 states were accorded with the SCS, he said and asked why the Centre is showing discrimination in granting SCS to Andhra Pradesh.

ZP chairman Mallela Raja Sekhar Goud continued the deeksha on the second-day at Mahatma Gandhi Statue in the premises of ZP. Kurnool MLA SV Mohan Reddy, district vice-president Mallela Pullareddy, Telugu yuvatha district president BAK Farvez, cultural wing district president Hanumantharao Chowdary, party city president Shareef and others took part in the cycle rally.
