Eluru: YSRCP president YS Jaganmohan Reddy started his second day of Praja Sankalpa Yatra in West Godavari district at Eastern Locks on Eluru outskirts on Tuesday.

Followed by a crowds of his supporters, he reached Palagudem village in Eluru rural mandal in Denduluru Assembly constituency where he was received by a large number of people. In the village, a handicapped person named Rajendra Prasad, who lost his both his hands due to electric shock, complained to him that he was denied pension by the Janmabhoomi Committee of the village.

Reacting strongly to this, Jaganmohan Reddy accused the TDP of favouring its own activists through Janmabhoomi committees denying benefits to eligible people. He wondered how officials can reject the pension application of a person who lost his both hands. Later, he interacted with the villagers where they told him that their petitions seeking road for years had not yielded any results.

The Viswa Brahim Association leaders met Jagan in Palagudem village and submitted him memorandum stating that about 45 lakh Viswa Brahmins were below the poverty line and requested him to set up a corporation if he came to power.

The association president, L Satyanarayana, urged the YSRCP chief to allot five acre land in Amaravati to construct a building for Viswa Brahmins and declare September 17 as national holiday as it was Viswakarma Jayanti, if the YSRCP comes to power. After his marathon walk in Palagudem, he reached Kovvali village in Dendululru mandal and received memorandums from the public.

In Denduluru, Jaganmohan Reddy promised that he would implement a slew of schemes for the benefit of farmers including setting up of price stabilsation fund with Rs 3,000 crore. Stressing the need for farmers to take up allied activities apart from cultivation of crops, he said the YSRCP if it came to power would encourage dairy and other sectors.

He said dairy farmers will get Rs 4 per litre as a subsidy for the milk supplied to the dairies. He also promised nine hours power to agriculture in daytime. “An amount of Rs.12,500 per acre would be given to farmers to take up cultivation in May.

The farmers' main problem is drought and untimely rains. They could incur huge losses due to these calamities. In view of this, a disaster management fund with Rs 4,000 crores would be set up if I came to power,” he announced.
