Kadapa: The ACB sleuths caught an engineer, Sk Rahmathullah, red-handed on Wednesday while accepting bribe of Rs 14,000 from a contractor for clearing the pending bills.
According to ACB DSP C Nagaraju, contractor A Ramanjaneya Reddy of Kadapa city had completed road laying works in Chapadu mandal in 2017. But, the bills pertaining to road works were pending with the Panchayat Raj office.
The contractor approached Panchayat Raj Engineer Rahmathullah to clear bills. In turn, he demanded bribe from contractor. Based on the victim’s complaint, the ACB officials nabbed Rahmathullah at Zilla Parishad office in Chapadu on Wednesday. ACB CI Ramachandra Reddy and other staff were present.
