Tirupati: A two-day workshop and symposium on Deep Brain Stimulation (DBS) for Parkinson’s disease will be conducted by Department of Neurosciences, SVIMS on Friday (May 25) and Saturday (May 26), 2018.

The workshop is first of its kind in the country and SVIMS is the only centre in the State to have a dedicated programme designed to mitigate the burden of Parkinson’s disease.

“Inter disciplinary Movement Disorders Programme” as it is called brings neurologists, neurosurgeons, psychiatrists/psychologists, nursing, physiotherapy, palliative care, geriatrics and other research scientists under one roof to provide best possible treatment to patients suffering from Parkinson’s disease.

The workshop intends to render hands on training to the participants in DBS which enhances their learning experience. Dr Asha Kishore, Director of SCTIMST, Trivandrum, will be the resource person and SVIMS Director cum Vice-Chancellor Dr TS Ravikumar will be the chief guest of the workshop.
