Amaravati: Despite being at the receiving end of the development thrust of the Centre, the state had made impressive strides in facilitating investors set up units in the IT sector and thus help youth get jobs.

Of the total target of creating one lack employment in IT sector, the government has succeeded in providing more than 22,000 jobs. There are proposals under various stages of implementation to generate another 50,430 jobs in major companies in IT and financial services in the State by the end of this year, according to sources in the IT ministry said.

The major IT companies with employment potential include Conduent which promised 5,000 jobs by investing Rs 649 crore, Franklin Templeton Investments 2,500 jobs, ANSR Consulting 5,000 jobs with an estimated investment of Rs 500 crore, HCL Tech also aimed to provide 12,500 jobs with an investment of Rs 500 crore, Karvy, 10,000 jobs with an investment of Rs 390 crore, Zoho Corp, 5,000 jobs with investment of Rs 250 crore and Miracle Software, 5,000 jobs with an investment of Rs 240 crore. Added to that, Reliance has also aimed to provide 5000 jobs and Paytm to come up with jobs for about 500.

All these proposals are in the pipeline, the source said. These IT majors are going to set up their facilities in Visakhapatnam, Vijayawada and Amaravati. The IT department has established AP Electronics and IT Agency (APEITA) as an “Empowered Mission for Electronics & IT promotion” to give fillip to the development of the sector.

To realize the goal of creating one lakh employment in IT and five lakh jobs in electronics and manufacturing sectors, the IT department has brought multiple policies including IT, Electronics, Startup, Cyber Security, Designated Technology Park (DTP), Global In-house Centers (GIC), Artificial Intelligence Cloud Hub, Integrated Innovation & Technology and recently Nara Lokesh introduced Animation, Visual effects, Gaming & Comics.

The department is developing more infrastructure for the sector in order to facilitate the needs of investors. The IT infrastructure is being developed at Chittoor, Anantapur in Rayalaseema, Krishna and Visakhapatnam. It aims to create 50 lakh sq ft of office space in these four districts and for that government is acquiring at least 200 acres from each district to create the necessary infrastructure.

The sources in the department said that by April 2018, they would have created more than 7 lakh sq ft of space for IT sector in Visakhapatnam, Tirupati, Vijayawada, Kanuru, Gannavaram and Mangalagiri, under DTP Policy through APEITA.

In addition to that, the state government is encouraging Non-Resident Telugu community to establish StartUp companies through APNRT. IT Minister Nara Lokesh recently said that the Telugu Desam government is committed to provide as many jobs as possible in the IT sector for the youth who graduate from engineering colleges.
