Visakhapatnam: Visakhapatnam district is in the last position among other districts in achieving Nava Nirmana Deeksha targets. Though Visakhapatnam district has been secured first place in implementation of government programmes, this time, it failed to reach the targets fixed in the Nava Nirmana Deeksha programme which was launched on June 2. Though, there are only two days left for the conclusion of Nava Nirmana Deeksha programme, there is no progress in the district in achieving the daily targets.

The government directed the district administration to organise the NMD programmes on a serious note and involve all sections of people at the village, mandal and district level. As per the directive, officials at village and mandal level should visit all the places and interact with the people to seek their opinions about the programmes.

The ‘Sadhikara Mitra’ members should also visit door-to-door to create awareness on the government programmes. Distribution of assets and discussion on the employment generation activities should be explained to the people during the NMD.

However, during the past five-days, the officials at mandal and village level are not reaching the targets. While reviewing the NMD activities through a video-conference on Wednesday, Collector Pravin Kumar expressed his dissent over the failure in achieving the targets of the NMD.

The Collector said that Visakhapatnam district is in the last position in reaching the targets during the NMD. The Collector directed the mandal-level officials to ensure more number of people to be present in the NMD programmes. As less number of petitions and grievances are being received in the NMD, the Collector directed the officials to upload representations and action taken report every day.

The Collector also directed the officials to organise games, sports distribution of ration cards, pensions and assets distribution during the next two days. The Collector also directed the officials to tele-cast the Chief Minister’s address at all the villages. The Collector expressed his dissent as the reports are not coming to the district headquarters from the GVMC and agency areas about the NMD activities.
