New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi reacted positively to a request for sanction of more funds and to provide incentives for industrial sector in Andhra Pradesh during a one to one meeting with the BJP state president Kanna Lakshminarayana on Tuesday here.

Lakshminarayana met the Prime Minister for the first time, after taking charge as BJP state president and asked him to extend Central government’s assistance for the development of Andhra Pradesh on 12 issues.

Speaking to this correspondent over phone, Lakshminarayana explained that he asked Modi to provide financial incentives to the state for its development. He said that he had asked the Prime Minister to sanction Vizag railway zone, Kadapa steel plant, tribal university, Ramayapatnam port, metro rail for Vizag and Vijayawada, green field crude oil refinery and petro-chemical complex by IOC and HPCL, allocation of more funds for educational institutions, increase in Backward Districts Grants funds from Rs 50 crore to Rs 150 crore to seven districts, GST exemption for industries in these seven districts, special industrial corridor for four districts of Rayalaseema, more funds for tribals and fishermen development, special incentives for start-ups.

Reacting positively towards these proposals, the Prime Minister said that he will ensure, according to BJP state president. Lakshminarayana said during the half-an-hour meeting, the Prime Minister asked him to strengthen the party in the state to win in the next general elections.
