Two women drown in sea
Kakinada: Two women drowned and six others survived when a group of eight women went to take bath in sea at Suryarao Peta beach in Kakinada rural mandal on Monday afternoon.
According to details available, the group of women from Medapadu village in Samarlakota mandal in East Godavari district came to Suryarao Peta on Monday to take bath in sea.
Out of the eight women, Medisetty Krishnaveni, Jampa Sangeeta Lakshmi and D Durga Devi, all married women, were dragged into the deep sea by the tidal waves due to rough weather conditions. The remaining women raised an alarm and locals mostly fishermen tried to rescue them.
Krishanaveni and Sangeeta Lakshmi drowned in the sea while Durga Devi survived.
Timmapuram police in Kakinada rural mandal registered a case. The bodies of the two deceased women were sent to Kakinada government hospital for post-mortem.
