In a significant development, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu has directed the Telugu Desam MPs to move a no-confidence motion against the Union government in Parliament.

TDP will pitch for a no-confidence motion against the NDA government at the centre in the upcoming monsoon session of parliament over the demand for special category status (SCS) for Andhra Pradesh.

Addressing the party MPs at camp office on Thursday, Chandrababu said that AP was promised SCS, which would grant to extra funds from the centre but the BJP-led NDA government has refused what it was promised.

The Chief Minister said that the move of no confidence motion will garner support from all parties except BJP and he further directed the TDP MPs to strive hard for state's welfare.

Earlier this year, TDP had brought a no-confidence motion against the government in parliament after opposition leader and YSR Congress Chief YS Jagan Mohan Reddy sent a notice. However, the repeated adjournments in parliament resulted in the no-confidence motions against the government not getting taken up. Later in March this year, Chandrababu pulled out his ministers from PM Modi's government and end the alliance with BJP.
