Hyderabad: The Met department on Thursday warned of heavy rain very likely to occur at isolated places in Srikakulam, Vizianagaram, Visakhapatnam, East & West Godavari, Krishna and Guntur districts of coastal Andhra on July 20 and 21. The department bulletin attributed the rain to the low pressure area formed over northwest Bay of Bengal and the associated upper air cyclonic circulation.
The upper air cyclonic circulation now extends up to 4.5 km above the mean sea level. During the last 24 hours ending at 8.30 am on Thursday, the Southwest Monsoon turned weak in Andhra Pradesh, resulting in reduced rainfall. Rain occurred at isolated places in Visakhapatnam and West Godavari districts. There was 1 cm of rain each in Chintapalle, Chodavaram, Visakhapatnam Airport (all in Vishakhapatnam), Maruteru (West Godavari) and Paderu (Vishakhapatnam).
According to the forecast, light to moderate rain or thundershowers are very likely to occur at many/isolated/few places in the coastal and Rayalaseema districts from July 20 to 23. No large change during the period July 24-26 is the weather outlook.
