Vijayawada: The city is witnessing transformation in many fields following the development in Amaravati capital city. Now, the bike taxi facility is also available at just a click away to the people of the city. A Bengaluru-based company introduced bike taxi facility for citizens and the commuters can travel in it at an affordable cost of Rs 3 per km.
The service provider also offers Rs 50,000 insurance cover to customers on every bike taxi trip. This facility is introduced by ‘Rapido’ company in the model of various cab services and interested can book the service through company’s app. The bike taxi offers first ride at free of cost also.
Though the new mode of transport is popular in big cities in the country, this facility was being launched in the city first time following the development in Amaravati capital city, said former transport department official K Raja Rao.
Speaking to The Hans India, Raja Rao said the success of transport facility will depends on future development in the city and added that the commuters can reach their destinations quickly compared to other modes of transport. According to official sources, the transport department gave permission for three other bike taxi service operators in the city.
