Bariatric surgery on 14-yr-old girl successful at Endocare Hospital in Vijayawada

Vijayawada: A 14-year-old Suman Khatun suffering from leptin deficiency and weighing about 185 kgs, underwent a successful Bariatric surgery, said Dr K Ravikanth of Endocare Hospital here on Thursday.
Addressing the media persons, the doctor said that Suman Khatun from Matiala village of West Bengal was suffering from obesity problem since her childhood due to leptin hormone deficiency.
Through internet and discovery channel, Jalaluddin Khan, father of the patient came to know about Endocare Hospital, Vijayawada.
After coming to the hospital, Suman underwent preliminary tests and treatment was given.
In the first few days, Suman lost about 10 kg weight. Later, she underwent Sleeve Gastrectomy surgery on July 20 successfully and the weight was reduced by another 20 kgs.
The doctor said that the Suman has reduced by 30 kg weight in one month treatment and was ready for discharge. The doctor said that the surgery and the treatment was done free of cost.
Suman told ‘The Hans India’ that she want to study. But due to being overweight her classmates always make fun of her and she stopped going to school. She thanked the doctor and the hospital staff for their cooperation.
