Hyderabad: The Met department has warned of heavy rain very likely to occur on August 14 at isolated places in Srikakulam, Vizianagaram, Visakhapatnam, East & West Godavari, Krishna and Guntur districts of coastal Andhra.

The department bulletin said under the influence of the cyclonic circulation over the north-coastal Odisha and its neighbourhood, a low pressure area has formed over north-west Bay of Bengal off the West Bengal coast.

The associated cyclonic circulation extends up to 7.6 km above the mean sea level. It is likely to become more marked during next 24 hours. According to the forecast, light to moderate rain or thundershowers are very likely to occur at a few/many/isolated places in the State from August 14 to 17. No large change during the period August 18-20 is the weather outlook.

Meanwhile, the Southwest Monsoon was active in the coastal districts and weak in Rayalaseema. Very heavy rain occurred at isolated places in East Godavari district. Heavy rain lashed isolated places in Krishna district. Rain occurred at many places in the coastal and at a few places in Rayalaseema.

The chief amounts of rainfall (in cm) in State were: Peddapuram (EG) 12, Vijayawada Airport, Vararamachandrapur (EG) 8 each, Kalingapatnam, Tekkali (both in Srikakulam), Chintur (EG), Gudivada (Krishna) 6 each, Kunavaram (EG), Tiruvuru (Krishna), Merakamudidam (Vizianagaram), Ichchapuram, Pathapatnam (both in Srikakulam), Garividi (Vizianagaram), Prakasam Barrage (Krishna) and Polavaram (WG) 5 each.

There was 4 cm of rain each in Vijayawada, Nuzvid, Ranastalam, Mandasa, Velairpad, Koyyalagudem and 3 cm each in Vuyyuru, Visakhapatnam, Machilipatnam, Cheepurupalle, Mangalagiri, Kukunoor, Palasa, Koida, Tanuku, Eluru, Peddapuram, Bhimadole and Nandigama.
