Nellore: Municipal Administration Minister P Narayana informed that contracting companies in the state have expressed nod to spend 0.5 per cent of their revenue for developmental activities under Corporate Social Responsibility.

Minister Narayana inaugurated vegetable market in Sullurpeta in the district on Sunday which was constructed at a cost of Rs 2.50 crore with CSR funds of Satish Dhawan Space Research Centre. Minister appreciated efforts of the SHAR (Sriharikota Atomic Research Centre) authorities for constructing vegetable market in the town as part of its CSR activity.

Speaking at the meeting, Minister said that SHAR stands second best organisation in the globe for its space research activities. Not only research activities on space, officials of SHAR are also taking up welfare activities which is appreciable, he said.

He said that the state government had taken up many reforms in all sectors for development of the society and the municipal administration department stands first in the state with 96.7 pc in overall reforms. He further said that development works worth Rs.50,000 crore are in progress in 110 municipalities and in Amaravati. He said the contract companies had agreed to spend 0.5 per cent of funds for activities under CSR.

Further, Minister Narayana participated in a bike rally in Sullurpet on Sunday morning expressing happy over sanctioning unemployment dole to the youth through Yuva Nestam Programme. He said that they had estimated 12 lakh unemployed youth are in the state below the age of 35 and said the state government would provide Rs.1,000 as dole besides enhancing their skills through various trainings.

Even though the state government was having deficit budget it has been implementing above 190 welfare schemes for the welfare of the poor, he added. Sullurpet TDP In-Charge and former Minister Parasa Ratnam, Tirupati MP Varapasad and others were present.
