Vijayawada: Kenneth I Juster, United States of America Ambassador to India, and Katherine B Hadda, US Consul General in Hyderabad, visited Vasavya Mahila Mandali (VMM) and expressed condolences to the family members of Chennupati Vidya.

Kenneth and Hadda were welcomed by Dr Keerthi B, Technical Project Manager of VMM, on Tuesday. Later, both the officials interacted with the members of VMM, Yuva Mitra programme staff and beneficiaries. They also interacted with Mahila Mitra members, along with Assistant Commissioner of police VV Naidu.

Kenneth appreciated the work of VMM, along with Vijayawada police, to address security issues in public places in the city especially in making Vijayawada a safe city for women and girls.

Mahila Mitra facilitator head constable Shiva Kumari explained the officials about the training on SARA (Scanning, Analysis, Response and Assessment), and other activities like mapping of unsafe public spots for women and mapping of the police stations.

Yuva Mitra programme coordinator explained how the organisation was involved in providing training to youth in Andhra Pradesh, Telangana and Odisha. The training programme was conducted in collaboration with George Washington University.
