Vijayawada: The members of Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM) headed by its state vice-president Chikkala Rajinikanth burnt an effigy of former Indian cricketer and the Congress leader, Navjot Singh Sidhu at Dharna Chowk here on Wednesday.

Speaking on the occasion, BJP city president A Sriram criticised Sidhu for visiting Pakistan without permission of Indian government apart from hugging Pakistan Army chief and sitting adjacent to Pakistan occupied Kashmir president Masood Khan.

He said the act of Sidhu was an insult to the army soldiers who died fighting for the motherland and was against country’s sovereignty.

Rajanikanth said that the Congress leaders were always in favour of the Pakistan and recalled that former Congress minister Salman Khurshid at a seminar in Pakistan said that Prime Minister Modi was against peace and harmony in spite of Pakistan was trying for peace.

He further recalled that the Congress leader Manishankar Iyer said that Modi government should be collapsed.

BHJM treasurer P Govind recalled that the Congress senior leader Sanjay Deekshit termed Indian Army Chief as rowdy which was very painful and the act of Sidhu was further causing distress, he added.
