Miscreants kill woman; decamp with booty

Vijayawada: Unidentified persons brutally murdered an elderly woman Karumuri Anjali (60) at her residence at New Payakapuram and decamped with gold ornaments weighing 120 grams on Thursday.
The victim's daughter Mada Varalakshmi lodged a complaint with Nunna police on Thursday. According to Nunna police, the woman was living alone at her residence after the death of her husband Karumuri Venkata Reddy 10 years ago. Neighbours saw her on Wednesday night at 11 30 pm.
When she did not woke up till 11 am on Thursday, neighbours grew suspicious and entered her house by broke opening the door and found her lying in the bed. The culprits could have killed her by throttling her.
The body was shifted to Govt Hospital for post-mortem. Circle inspector MV Durga Rao is investigating the case. He said that the miscreants murdered her to rob the gold ornaments. Clues team and dog squad were pressed into service.
