Awareness against POP idols by students in Vijayawada

Students of Nalanda Degree College participating in preparation of clay Ganesha idols to protect environment in Vijayawada on Wednesday

Vijayawada: The students of Nalanda Degree College participated in preparation of Ganesh idols with clay with a slogan ‘Save the environment, use Clay Ganesha idols’ here on Wednesday.  The students participated in various programmes for the last three days, said college principal M Anuradha. She said the students participated in making clay Ganesh Idols of various postures.  They organised awareness programmes on the ill-effects of using Ganesh idols made of Plaster of Paris and chemicals which were harmful to the environment.  They distributed leaflets, displayed placards and participated in various programmes at the Happy Sunday programme organised at IGM Stadium to create awareness on usage of clay idols, she said. She said the students organised flash-mob programme at Trendset Mall and created awareness among the public on using clay idols of Ganesh.  They also organised quiz on Ganesh festival and the winners were given clay Ganesh Idols.
