Visakhapatnam: As a part of the dry day being observed on Tuesdays, special drive was launched against deadly fevers. Joint Collector G Srujana on Tuesday made surprise inspections in Bheemili mandal.

During her day-long inspection, Srujana visited several villages, including G Tallavalasa, Mulakuddu, Yellammathota, Bheemili main road, Santhapeta, and Chippada. Dengue cases were registered in the villages recently.

While observing piled up garbage and debris at various places, the Joint Collector vented her ire against the officials and directed the panchayat raj officials to clean the areas immediately. She also interacted with the residents and urged them to make areas dry and clean.

She also directed the officials to take up fogging at all the villages. The Joint Collector also visited the Primary Health Centres and enquired about the availability of medicines. People complained that the local hatchery companies are releasing their untreated sewage directly into the sea.

While responding on the issues, she directed the officials to convene a meeting with the management of the companies to take immediate steps.District Medical and Health Officer Dr Tirupathi Rao, district panchayat officer Krishna Kumari and senior officials were present.
