Visakhapatnam: The Ministry of Shipping has instructed the major ports to take up cleanliness drive and suggested to conduct Swachha Pakwada-2018 in all the major ports.

As a part of Swachh Bharat initiative and Ministry of Shipping’s directive, Chairman of VPT MT Krishna Babu, deputy chairman PL Haranadh, heads of departments, senior officers, employees of Visakhapatnam Port Trust, port high school staff, students and residents of Salagrampuram port quarters, participated in the Swachh Bharat programme organised at Salagramapuram on Tuesday.

Addressing a gathering, Chairman of VPT informed the residents to keep their premises clean in order to prevent contagious diseases. The VPT has launched cleaning of port residential areas. The Chairman informed that the VPT is providing toilets at various schools especially girls schools under CSR activity.

Later, the Chairman pledged the Oath of Swachha Bharat. The Visakhapatnam Port Trust cultural team played a few skits explaining the need and the benefits in keeping their premises clean.
