Vijayawada: Sri Durga Malleswara Swami Temple will organise Dasara festival celebrations from October 10 to October 18. The temple EO V Koteswaramma and Temple Trust Board chairman Y GouranaBabu addressed media conference here on Thursday and gave details of festival schedule.
They said that there was confusion among the pundits on the festival dates. But the temple Vedic Committee has decided the festival dates and the temple would follow the schedule as per advice of Vedic Committee. The Goddess Durga would give darshan in Saraswathi Devi alankaram on October 14, they said.
They also said that the authorities of Durga temple were making plans to conduct the nine-day Dasara festival celebrations in a peaceful manner. The temple authoritieshave decided to introduce ‘Appam’ as new special prasadam which would be distributed from Dasara festival free of cost. The temple would spend nearly Rs 3 crore for distribution of Appam prasadam annually, they said.
