Kurnool: Tense situation prevailed for some time when a visually-impaired threatened to commit suicide by jumping from the Collectorate here on Thursday.
According to the available information, one Lakshman Swamy of Repalle village in Bethamcherla mandal had applied for a job at the Disabled Welfare department located in District Collector’s office. Despite visiting the department and meeting officials concerned on several occasions, he did not get a job.
On Thursday, he met the officials and asked them about the possibility of getting a job. Not finding satisfactory answer from officials, he tried to commit suicide in a state of frustration. The police and revenue officials persuaded him not to take extreme step and brought him down. Officials assured Lakshman Swamy of providing suitable job when the vacancy arises.
