Rajamahendravaram: Adikavi Nannaya University vice-chancellor Prof Murru Mutyala Naidu has asked the students to prove their mettle in sports at national level tournaments to bring laurels to the university.
He inaugurated weightlifting male and female best physique intercollegiate tournaments to select weightlifters for national level tournaments in the campus here on Thursday.
Later, he said the university was giving importance for sports and games and sending the players to state, south zone and national level tournaments.
As many as 40 girls and boys from the affiliated colleges of East and West Godavari districts participated in this test.
The boys will be sent to South zone weightlifting tournaments held in Calicut university from November 17 to November 20 and girls will be sent to Nagarjuna University from November 27 to November 29, he added.
Training will be imparted to the selected students by experienced coaches, he said.
He asked the students to come with flying colors in the tournaments. Sports coordinator Dr KS Rao and others were present.
