Tirupati: To improve infrastructure and other facilities for sports players, the state government allocated Rs 300 crore in the budget, said Andhra Pradesh Sports Authority (SAAP) Chairman P Ankamma Chowdary here on Thursday.

The SAAP Chairman visited the Srinivasam Sports Complex and inspected the infrastructure and amenities. Later, speaking to the media, Chowdary has stated that the SAAP has been searching for young talented players across the state to give training in sports of their interest.

The SAAP officials have already interacted with Vice-Chancellors of all universities to conduct sports training camps for varsity students, he said and added that the state government has been striving to bring fitness facilities closer to the public.

The SAAP chief instructed Srinivasam Sports Complex AO Varalakshmi to send proposals to the SAAP for converting cricket coaching venue into gymnasium hall.

Sports coaches, who were hired on contract basis, have brought to the notice of the SAAP Chairman about pending salaries. He assured them of resolving their salary issue in the next SAAP meeting. SAAP Director B Sridhar Varma and other officials were present.
