After a series of meetings with the defence personnel, Andhra University Vice Chancellor Prof G Nageswara submitted a proposal to Additional Secretary, Ministry of Defence Jiwesh Nandan for establishment of Defence Research and Development Centre DRDC in the varsity campus, in New Delhi on Thursday

Visakhapatnam: After a series of meetings with the defence personnel, Andhra University Vice Chancellor Prof G Nageswara submitted a proposal to Additional Secretary, Ministry of Defence Jiwesh Nandan for establishment of Defence Research and Development Centre (DRDC) in the varsity campus, in New Delhi on Thursday.

While interacting with the defence personnel, the VC briefed about the different MoUs signed between Andhra University and three wings of Army, Navy and Air Force and 26 courses being offered to these defence wings.

The VC said the additional secretary will expedite the proposal submitted for the establishment of DRDC at Andhra University. The VC highlighted the importance of DRDC and its institutionalsation with defense ministry funds.

While responding on the DRDC, Jiwesh Nandan promised to take the proposal to the concerned authorities and also with integrated defence staff department.

Prof P S Avadhani, Principal AU College of Engineering, Prof K Venkata Subbaiah, Dean, Research and Development, Prof P Mallikarjuna Rao, Department of Electrical Engineering, Ujjwal Kumar Ghatak, Academic Advisor, AU Defense Joint Educational and Research Programme, and Shaik Suleman, Secretary, AU Alumni Association, New Delhi Chapter, were also present.
