Nellore: A lorry driver burnt alive when fire engulfed from the engine when it hit another truck from rear side at Naidupalem in Venkatachalam mandal on Wednesday. The lorry from Krishnapatnam Port was heading towards Mantralayam with coal load.

When the vehicle reached Naidupalem cross roads, the driver of the lorry hit another truck from rear side in which fire broke out. Driver of the lorry stuck up in the cabin and burnt alive. Local people observed the incident and tried to put off fire, but they failed. They informed to police and local fire tenders rushed to the spot and doused flames.

A senior police official said the incident occurred only due to rash driving of the lorry driver. He had overtaken two trucks and further he hit another one from rear side at Naidupalem cross roads on the extreme left side of the road.

The deceased was from Yerraguntla in Kadapa district. A case was registered, and the investigation is on,’ said Sub-Inspector of Venkatachalam. Rural DSP Raghava Reddy visited the spot and enquired about the incident.
