Srikakulam: The four-day Maha Sivaratri festival of Srimukhalingam temple was concluded with chakra snanam on the banks of Vamsadhara river in Jalumuru mandal on Thursday. The temple priests performed chakrasnanam to temple idols as part of religious tradition here.

Earlier, the processional deities of the temple were carried out by the priests on Nandi Vahanam from the temple to Vamsadhara river under tight police security. More than one lakh devotees arrived here to witness the celestial event.

The police had tough time to manage the crowd due to poor planning at different stages involved in the holy activity. Devotees from several mandals of Srikakulam and Vizianagaram districts and from Odisha State attended the festival.
