India Inc. convened to take actionable steps to increase recruitment, retention and promotion of women in the Indian workforce JobsForHer, an online connecting portal for women on a career break, hosted India’s biggest conference for companies committed to increasing women’s participation in the Indian workforce. AccelHERate 2018 was held at Taj Land’s End, Mumbai and was convened to accelerate recruitment, retention, and promotion of women in the Indian workplace.

The event brought together a diverse group of key stakeholders like HR leaders, diversity and talent acquisition heads, employer branding leaders as well as business heads, CEOs and senior women leadersto discuss the important role women play in advancing economic growth and transformation of Indian businesses and society.

Neha Bagaria, Founder and CEO, ‘JobsForHer’ and senior journalist Barkha Dutt spoke at the event. She highlighted the need for work policies to be more gender neutral. “If there is maternal leave, call it parental leave to make it clear that as a workplace, you encourage men to be equally responsible towards their child.”

The second keynote address was given by Sharmila Karve, Global Diversity & Inclusion Leader, PwC India. She said, “We must educate the senior leadership to understand the needs of women and women in turn need to have these conversations with their higher management and demand what they deserve.”

Other notable speakers included Sandeep Kohli – Partner and Leader Talent at EY India; Ashok Lodha – Director, Global Markets at Barclays; Rohit Sathe – President, Philips Healthcare, Indian Sub-continent; Dr. Ranjan Banerjee – Dean, Professor-Marketing at SPJIMR; Anuradha Ganapathy – Head HR, Credit Suisse India; Sarika Naik – Chief Marketing Officer, Diversity – India, Capgemini and Sunita Bangard-President – Marketing Idea Cellular, Aditya Birla Group.
