Maruti has issued a recall for the Grand Vitara SUV to check for a possible fault in the manual transmission. Vehicles manufactured between June 2008 and May 2013 have been suspected to be impacted by this recall.

Owners of the affected vehicles need not worry, as dealers across the country have started to get in touch with them. Also the inspection and replacement of the faulty part would be done free of cost.

In the meantime owners can also check whether their vehicle has been affected or not by filling in their Vehicle Identification Number or Chassis Number (JSA followed by a 14 digit alpha-numeric number) on Maruti Suzuki’s website.

This also seems to be global recall, as Suzuki has recalled the SUV in the United States, Australia and China. It is believed that the strength of the rear shaft is insufficient and hence may break under some particular conditions which seem to be pretty dangerous as well.
