Elucidating politics in a rather unequivocal manner for his party workers, the BJP national general secretary Ram Madhav said ‘politics is not meant to do charity and is meant to win power’. “And there is no place for sentiments,” he said clearing the air on the BJP and the TRS relations in Telangana.

Just because the TRS supported the NDA in presidential polls, it can’t be a friend of BJP. Presidential election is above party lines and support of different parties sought to win the polls as part of such strategy the support of the TRS was sought. In his first ever address to party workers in the State as the party national general secretary, at the concluding session of the party state executive meet in Hanamkonda on Sunday, Ram Madhav reminded them they are in the battle ground and its needs unity to win the war.

In order to win the war, the party workers should shun internal bickering and fight against the ruling TRS in the State to win power in 2019 elections, he said, mincing no words and quoting from Bhagavad Geeta. He went on adding that no leader should take pride in the party’s growth. BJP is a well organised and disciplined party based on strong organisational structure in the entire country and such track record should be sustained. “In a political party, it is common to have minor differences. Seniors should intervene and correct the things.

The party’s motto ‘Sab ka saath sabka vikas’ is not just a slogan, it is our commitment. Spreading that message among the masses everyone in the party should work to strengthen party from grassroots level to assembly and parliament constituency level.” ‘The power gained should be used to serve the public efficiently and to put to practice the ideals and principles of Pandit Deendayal Upadhyay. We inherited corrupt politics and efforts are on to change the things in a positive direction and we are on transformative agenda,’ he stated.

BJP has got incorruptible leadership. Prime Minister Narendra Modi is the BJP’s Unique Selling Point (USP) and his popularity rate stands at 70 per cent even after three years. As a result, BJP rules 65 per cent of population in the country, Ram Madhav explained. Saying that BJP stands against religion-based reservations, he said the party strongly opposes the TRS’s efforts to offer religious reservations to appease some sections in the society.

Party state president K Laxman, national executive member Perala Sekhar Rao, BJLP leader G Kishan Reddy, Telangana in-charge PK Krishna Das and others attended the meeting.
