GenZe, owned by the Mahindra Group, is a company headquartered in California which specialises in providing efficient mobility solutions in the form of e-bikes (cycles) and e-scooters.

Limited to the U.S. as of now, their electric scooter consists of the GenZe 2.0 and GenZe 2.0S. Reportedly, a Mahindra spokesperson has confirmed that the Mahindra GenZe India launch is likely to happen in the near future.

Standing true to its eco-friendly product range, the name GenZe is short for Generation Zero Emissions. Their GenZe 2.0, an electric scooter powered by a removable 1.6 kWh lithium-ion battery, was first showcased in India at the 2016 Auto Expo.

The other product, GenZe 2.0S, has revised styling, lower handlebar positioning and is also equipped with a tracking device. The e-scooter range is quite practical with a top speed of 48 km/hr and a charge time of 3.5 hours, while offering immense convenience at the same time in the form of a removable battery, LED headlamp and ample storage space. GenZe scooters can get to their top speed in 8 seconds and are equipped with disc brakes in the U.S. market.

There are three selectable ride modes on offer and important statistics like battery level, speed, etc. are displayed via a seven-inch touchscreen. Considering that the future of mobility is electric, companies are considering India as a lucrative market and big players like TVS and Hero are already into the product development phase. The GenZe range is likely to debut in 2019 and will lock horns with Ather S340 and the likes.
