The all-new 2018 Jeep Wrangler is certainly one of the most anticipated products from the American off-road maker in recent years. The current Wrangler (JK series) went on to sale in the US in 2006 as a 2007-model-year vehicle. It entered the Indian market with the introduction of the Jeep brand in August 2016, a decade after its initial release.

Now, as the world anticipates the reveal of the all-new Wrangler (JL series) later this year, its dashboard has been spied up close without any camouflage. It is rather obvious that the overall design of the JL-series Wrangler will not be a complete departure from the outgoing JK series, because that’s what people like about it and have an emotional connection with. Surprisingly, the interior is diametrically opposite to the current Wrangler’s, in a good way!

It has a vertical layout similar to the old CJ Jeeps, imparting a minimalistic approach. But, although minimalistic, the dashboard of the upcoming Wrangler looks upmarket with a retro touch as opposed to the current one. In fact, the Wrangler, all in all, is going upmarket over its past generations.

The centre console is dominated by a large Fiat Chrysler Automobiles Uconnect touchscreen infotainment system. The screen is flanked by two circular AC vents, while two are present on the sides of the dash. Even the twin-dial instrument cluster doesn’t protrude much.

The new JL-series Wrangler is scheduled to go into production in November 2017. Sales are likely to begin early next year with a public debut at the 2018 Detroit Motor Show. The current Wrangler will be in production until March next year in the US. So we can expect that the new Wrangler will be launched in India sometime in 2018 because it is a CBU (completely built unit) import in the country. Stay tuned to CarDekho for updates on the upcoming Wrangler.
