Green Card woes for Indians in USA: wait could go up to 92 years
Green Card is issued to immigrants for legally residing and working in the USA permanently. While this is not the same as holding an American Passport, which is one of the most powerful in the world, it is definitely a step closer to get one.
Among all the Green card applicants in USA, India takes the baton for highest number of applications, followed by China, as per reports released by USCIS. This is excluding dependent visa applicants.
According to the current USA laws, the government cannot approve more than 7% of applications per country - this law is most disadvantageous for India. According to calculations, applicants in line may get an approved green card 92 years after applying fo it, due to the sheer number of people waiting in line to get theirs every year.
