Director Vikas Bahl who is gearing up for his next movie Shaandaar starring Shahid Kapoor and Alia Bhatt talks about working with Salman Khan, link ups with heroines, National Award and many more.

Vikas Bahl has cast Alia in ”Shaandar” but says he is not done with Kangana. On being quizzed further, he says, "What do you mean when you ask me if I am over Kangana?? “laughs Vikas.

On casting, Vikas quips, "A casting depend on the story of a film. It is of course nicer to go back to people you have worked with. You share a good comfort level working with them again. We shared a good rapport and had a good working relationship. If the script of my film demands Kangana, I will definitely cast her. She has a long way to go, she is an amazing actor."

Concentration on women-oriented movies: "Women are powerful I don’t think I have the ability to empower themselves, they are strong within themselves. My mom for example at home, she is the engine of the whole house. They do not get enough credit for whatever they do for the house and the family members. Also, how much credit can we give them? The work they do is phenomenal. You only complain about the things they do rarely do we thank mom every morning. We rather fight for what she did not do may be at some particular point of time. I literally belong to a lower middle-class family. After I wake up and decide to have my breakfast, if there was no sauce my mother would make onion/tomato chutney. Moms are always ready to serve us with a substitute food at all times. Making films like Queen, I have consciously thought I was making films on Woman Empowerment.”

Vikas has won accolades for Queen and won two National Awards: Is he expecting one for ”Shaandar”? "Actually, I never write thinking on lines of getting any awards. Even Queen, we never expected to get the National Award. We did not have enough funds to be able to even complete our film. Also, I have no pressure of being a director having got the National Award. I have made this fun and frolic film because I am sure I can make any kind of film now."

Working with father and son duo-Pankaj Kapoor and Shahid Kapoor, he says, "The two cannot be compared at all –Infact they are like apples and oranges. Pankaj sir is meticulous in his performance while Shahid is natural. They are actors on the sets they are not like father and son on the sets.”

Ask him if he has incorporated any live moments from Shahid’s wedding? "Oh! I wish I could. Alas! We started the film after he got married.”

About working with Salman Khan: "Once Salman is on board he is all out for a project. I remember after Salman was associated with Chillar Party, he did not leave any stone to promote the film. He gets attached to any project with all his heart.”

Adding further he says, "Who would not like to work with the Khans- But I can approach them only f I have a good script for them. They have been there and have done it all. I will have to write something very special and only then I can dream of working with them.”

Also his association with Anurag Kashyap, he says, "Our sensibilities are very different. In all his films, he brings on his attitude. However, life may be good but in the end we have to see the bad. But I always try to depicted things in fun and frolic manner. For me, it's just the opposite-Life may be bad but it has good things ahead. We gel with each other a lot."

Lastly, ask him how his name has not been linked with any of the heroines: Vikas blushes and walks away saying, everyone has their life.
