Sensational director Ram Gopal Varma has teamed up with Akkineni Nagarjuna for the fourth time in his career for an exciting film titled as Officer. There are a lot of exciting elements in the movie, and the makers are promoting the movie with a unique aspect called sound design. The film unit is confident that the sound design of the movie will be the talk of the town after the release of the film. The actor and director are very much optimistic about the film doing well at the box office.

The film has a story set in Mumbai, and we have come to know that the movie is based on the story of a real-life cop. Myra Sareen is making her female lead debut in the film. Ram Gopal Varma himself turned producer for the movie and bankrolled it under R Company banner. The film is releasing on Friday and check out the review of the film here.

Story:
Shivaji Rao IPS(Nagarjuna) is appointed to lead the special investigation team to find out the truth in a fake encounter that happened in Mumbai.

Another police officer Narayan Pasari is involved in this encounter. Shivaji Rao starts his investigation and finds some interesting elements in the case. What happens then? Forms the story of the film.

Performances:

Nagarjuna Akkineni is undoubtedly one of the best actors in the movie. He has portrayed a brilliant performance in the film and has brought the required emotion that his character demands. Nagarjuna is seen playing soft roles in all his movies in the recent past, but this movie has come as a change for him. Though it is not completely convincing, Ram Gopal Varma tried his best to present Nagarjuna differently.

The actor who played Narayana Pasari is a new face for Telugu audiences, and he failed to connect instantly. The director could have gone for a known face. Myra Sarin is good regarding glamour and did her part well in the movie. The rest of the actors in the movie have played their roles well and impressed everyone.

Technicalities:

The cinematography by Bharath Vyas and Rahul Penumatsa is impressive. Both of them have given their best for the movie and gave a different tone for the film. The music by Ravi Shankar is not up to the mark. The background score is perfect and has elevated the mood of the movie.

The editing by Anwar Ali and Kamal is okay. The writing by Ram Gopal Varma is flat. The dialogues are okay. The proper care is not taken while designing the screenplay. The production values of R Company are grand.

Verdict:
Officer movie has a good storyline which is different from all Ram Gopal Varma's previous movies. The film is not a routine mafia movie, but it has got a weight in the plot. Nagarjuna has played his part very well and came up with an impressive attempt in chasing out the criminals as a police officer in Mumbai.

The first half of the movie introduces as a good story and raises the expectations on the second half. But as the film progresses, it entirely comes down and ends as an average movie. A departmental investigation on a bad cop is the engaging element in the movie which has created excitement and curiosity in watching the movie. As the second half starts, the story becomes pointless, and Ram Gopal Varma ruins with his overboard directional skills. On the whole, the film that starts on a good note ended up as a disappointing movie.
