Mahesh falls behind Ram Charan

Atlast, the Hindi dubbing rights of superstar Mahesh Babu’s upcoming film ‘Maharshi’ has been sold for a whopping Rs 20 crore, but it falls short of Ram Charan’s upcoming film with Boyapati Srinu which was reportedly sold for Rs 22 crore. “It is the highest price paid for the Hindi dubbing rights for a Mahesh Babu’s film till date.

Apart from Mahesh’s Babu’s expanding charisma and hard bargaining by producers Dil Raju and Aswini Dutt, distributors coughed up big sum,” says a Hindi film distributor and adds “but it couldn’t surpass the price paid for Ram Charan-Boyapati movie which was sold for Rs 22 crore,”. Interestingly, Jr NTR’s recent blockbuster ‘Aravinda Semetha….’ was traded for Rs 18 crore, hence Ram Charan stays ahead of his peers Mahesh Babu and Jr NTR in pan-India appeal.

“Actually, Hindi dubbing rights of big Telugu film stars have a good market across India and their films are bought for anywhere between Rs 10 to 12 crore in the past. But with one film crossing Rs 20 crore mark, producers of big stars are demanding similar amounts which is no viable since the viewership is depleting on Hindi channels these days, due to repetitive Telugu content. With neglible theatrical release, the prices are surely pinching the pockets of distributors,” the distributor concludes.
