Hyderabad: Six employees died and two others grievously injured when a reactor exploded in a chemical factory in Mankal Industrial Estate under Maheshwaram mandal of Ranga Reddy district on Monday morning.

The deceased working in the Asita Pharma and Drugs factory at the time of the blast were production block in-charge Murthy, 45, quality controller Venkat, 28, and four workers belonging to Chhattisgarh --- Posaram, 22, Deva, 23, Jogaram, 24 and Dasuram, 25, were charred to death, while one Sunilram, who was grievously injured was rushed to the nearest hospital.

On receipt of the information, Maheshwaram MLA Krishna Reddy, ZPTC member Kishore Naik, MPP Sneha, Tahsildar Gopiram and leaders from all political parties rushed to the spot and inspected the accident site. MLA Krishna Reddy demanded that the factory management pay Rs 25 lakh compensation to the kin of the deceased workers. He assured that the State government would also provide adequate assistance to the bereaved families.
