Four persons, who have been robbing passengers at Mahatma Gandhi Bus Station in the city and suspected of murdering a passenger, were arrested by the Afzalgunj police.

Hyderabad: Four persons, who have been robbing passengers at Mahatma Gandhi Bus Station in the city and suspected of murdering a passenger, were arrested by the Afzalgunj police.

In a span of one week, the Afzalgunj police received four complaints of robbery and one murder near Musi River. The complainants told police that some unknown persons have robbed them near Electricity sub-station located near Musi River bed at MGBS.

Three teams were formed to probe the cases and the teams identified the accused as Iqbal Khan Pathan (22) of Mansur village in Madhya Pradesh, Mohammed Rehan Ansari (21) of Dhobni village in Bihar, Ilyas Ali Khan (25) of Tolichowki and Shaik Javeed (22) of Aurad in Karnataka, said East Zone DCP Dr V Ravinder.

“The accused confessed to have killed one Shaik Abdul Quadeer (31) of Rajendranagar. At about 9 pm on July 19, they saw Abdul coming out of MGBS alone towards Shivaji Bridge. They followed him up to electrical sub-station and dragged him into Musi river bed. They beat Abdul and killed him.

The accused also confessed to have robbed four other passengers in the same way,” said DCP Ravinder. On a tip-off, task force SIs A Sudhakar and S Saida Babu along with Afzalgunj police held the accused at MGBS and recovered five tolas gold ornaments, three silver rings, one laptop, two hard disks and five mobile phones, the DCP said.
