When the power went off all his roommates went to the terrace of the hostel building and slept there. But, Yashaswi stayed back in the room and hanged to the window grill. 

Visakhapatnam: A fourth-year LLB student of Andhra University committed suicide by hanging from a window grill in the hostel room of Mamata Hostel on the campus under Three-Town Police Station limits in the city in the early hours of Thursday.

The deceased was identified as Yashaswi (22), a native of Chilakaluripeta in Guntur district. Yashaswi had spent time with his roommates till late night. When the power went off all his roommates went to the terrace of the hostel building and slept there. But, Yashaswi stayed back in the room and hanged to the window grill.

When his friends came back to the room in the morning they found him hanging. They immediately informed the university authorities who rushed to the room. Later, the officials called the police. The Three Town police after conducting an inquest sent the body to King George Hospital for post-mortem.

They also informed their family members. Police found a suicide note in his pocket in which Yashaswi said he was ending his life as he had failed to come out of the drug addiction. Senior police are questioning the students on sale and use of drugs on the university campus and how many students were addicted to drugs.
