Karimnagar: The police on Friday arrested a pseudo-naxalite who was allegedly involved in extortions and settlements, and recovered huge cache of arms and ammunition from him.

The accused Thota Ramulu belongs to Keshanapalli village under Mutharam mandal. He currently resides in Katta Rampur area in Karimnagar.

According to the Commissioner of Police VB Kamalasan Reddy, Ramulu is a relative of surrendered Maoist Jadala Nagaraju.

Since, Nagaraju surrendered to police in 2000, Ramulu closely associated with him. It’s learnt that Nagaraju amassed quite a few fire arms during his stint with the Maoists.

In 2012, Nagaraju gave nine fire arms to Ramulu and went underground. Since then, Ramulu has been indulged in several extortions and settlements threatening people with the arms.

Following a tip off, Ramulu who hid them at his relative’s house was held and ammunition seized.
