The Rachakonda police arrested a bookie and three punters while three other bookies managed to give the police a slip. The arrested persons have been identified as K Nagaraju, C Bishma Reddy, N Suresh and Srinivas Reddy. Police recovered Rs 3.31 lakh and nine mobile phones from the accused.

The police said, Vara Prasad, the main bookie, was the kingpin of the gang and was running cricket betting operations with the assistance of Nagaraju, Nageshwar Rao and Rama Raju.
The gang has been accepting bets for the ongoing IPL matches. The Special Operations Team (SOT) raided their den at Gajularamaram and arrested the accused. Efforts are underway to nab the three absconding bookies, according to the police.
