Surrogacy racket busted, infertility centre sealed
Hyderabad seems to be emerging as a hub for surrogacy. Medical and Health officials, assisted by the city police, inspected a private hospital in Banjara Hills on Saturday following allegations of grave irregularities in surrogacy cases. Later the hospital wassealed.

The authorities swooped down on Sai Kiran Infertility Centre on Road No. 14 in Banjara Hills in the backdrop of reports that surrogacy procedurewas carried out in violation rules. Officials seizedrecords concerning as many as 48 surrogate mothers.
Sources said this centre had in the past carried out as many as 70 surrogacy procedure wherein clients from Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, West Bengal, Delhi and Nepal had allegedly paid huge money to get babies.Sources also said that the centre had collected Rs 40 lakh from each client but gave the surrogate mothers only Rs 3 lakh.
Recently, the apex court had expressed concern over growing exploitation of poor women for surrogacy. Despite this, theinfertility centre had been luring poor women, sources said.
